Ovarian Volume and Doppler Indexes in Fertile and Subfertile Anovulatory Women with Regular Menses: A Cross Sectional Study,HEBA AL-SAWAH and AHMAD MOHAMAD ABDEL HAK
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate whether anovulatory women with regular cycles would have different ovarian volume and Doppler indexes than fertile women.
Design: Cross sectional study. Setting: Kasr El-Aini Hospital.
Participants and Interventions: Subfertile women diag-nosed as anovulatory with regular cycles were compared to fertile women regarding ovarian volume and Doppler indexes.
Results: Ovarian volume was significantly different be-tween both groups. Both ovarian artery RI and PI were also significantly different between fertile and subfertile women. The uterine artery resistant index RI and pulsatility index PI were not significantly different between both groups.
Conclusion: The present study confirms that measurement of the OV yields good diagnostic accuracy to distinguish fertile from subfertile anovulatory women. However, Doppler transvaginal ultrasound is not so helpful in diagnosis of polycystic ovary disease.
