Factors Affecting Mock Embryo Transfer before in Vitro Fertilization: A Randomized Controlled Trial, AHMAD Y. REZK, AYMAN ABD EL-GAWAD AZAZY and MOHSEN A. NOSEIR
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate whether release of speculum screw and rest for one hour would affect the position of the media belt before in mock embryo transfer setting guided by ultra-sound.
Design: Randomized controlled trial.
Participants and Methods: Women were randomised into 2 groups: Group (I) release the speculum screw before the injection of the media inside the uterine cavity and group (II) in which no release of the speculum was done and the position of the media was observed by ultrasound immediately after injection and after 1h. Then each group was further subdivided into two subgroups: (A) bed rest for one hour after injection of the media and subgroup (B) in which no rest was applied.
Results: There was statistical significant change in the position of the media inside the uterus between the release of the speculum before injection of the media and no release of the speculum. There was statistical significant change in the position of the media inside the uterus between resting in bed for one hour and walking for one hour.
Conclusion: Release of the speculum before injection of the media inside the uterine cavity and rest in bed for one hour after injection of the media has better effect on the position of the media inside the uterus by keeping it near to the fundus and prevent its descent away from the fundus.
