Role of Doppler Studies in Recurrent Idiopathic First Trimesteric Abortion, HODA M. ABDELAAL

Abstract
Objective: To determine whether non pregnant women with a history of unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss had a higher uterine blood flow impedance than women who had at least 1 live child and no history of spontaneous abortions.
Design: Cross sectional study.
Participants and Methods: Participants with a history of idiopathic recurrent pregnancy loss (the RPL group) were compared to women with no history of abortion and at least 1 child born at term (the control group). All had Doppler studies with special focus on Pulsatility index.
Results: There was statistically significant difference in Pulsatility index with mean value 2.513 and 2.278 in case and control group respectively which reveals increased blood flow resistance in case group in uterine artery with cutoff value 2.25 which achieved sensitivity 72% and specificity 50%.
Conclusion: Increased vascular impedance may cause a poor uterine perfusion, resulting in poor decidual formation and poor initial development of the gestation.
