Abstract
Background: Most clinical trials evaluating the relative effectiveness of coronary revascularization procedures have focused primary on differences in mortality and morbidity. However, measures of morbidity are often poorly related to subjective accounts of health and well being and no capture all aspects of outcome that are important to patients.
Aim: Of the work Was to evaluate quality of life among Egyptian patients with ischemic heart disease before and after coronary revascularization using questionnaires.
Patients and Methods: Fifty IHD patients were divided into 2 groups GA treated with PCI and GB treated with CABG. Those with LV failure or major disability or end stage liver or renal disease were excluded. After clinical evaluation and investigations, CA was done and accordingly was sent for PCI or CABG. Self administered questionnaire before and after the revascularization for three months was done. CROQ adapted from heart journal 2004 validated developed and translated into Arabic. Responses were dichotomous 100 is the worst and zero is the best score.
Results: There was no significant differences between the 2 groups as regard age, gender nor risk factors also no signif-icant differences were noted between them as regard severity or number of vessel affected. Significant improvement in symptoms and physical activity in GA and GB after revascu-larization with no significant differences between both groups.
Conclusion: Arabic version of CROQ is an easy way for quality of life assessment in Egyptian patients. No significant differences between CABG and PCI as regard quality of life out come in the first 3 months follow-up after revascularization.
