Dinoprostone Versus Misoprostol Vaginally for Inducing Labour in Prolonged Pregnancy, NESREEN A.A. SHEHATA
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate cost effectiveness, efficacy and safety of dinoprostone versus Misoprostol for induction of labour in post-term pregnancy with correlation to maternal and fetal outcome.
Subjects and Methods: A prospective randomized study was conducted on 50 pregnant women beyond 41 weeks received prostin and other 50 pregnant women also beyond 41 weeks gestation who received Misoprostol from Beni-Suef University Hospital. Induction of labour for both groups was done.
Results: There were significant difference between both groups as regards delivery induction interval, vaginal delivery, hyperstimulation, deceleration and meconium. Informed consent of the patients was taken.
Conclusion: Prostin is better for induction of labour in women with prolonged pregnancies due to less maternal and neonatal complications.
