Workplace Stress and its Effect on Employee Health: Role of Social Workers

Abstract

Aim: This study examines the effects of workplace stress on employee health, focusing on the role of social workers in mitigating these impacts. Given the increasing demands and stressors in modern work environments, particularly in the healthcare sector, understanding the comprehensive roles of so-cial workers in stress management is crucial. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conduct-ed, analyzing scientific and professional papers on workplace stress, its impacts on employees, and the interventions facilitat-ed by social workers. Meta-analytic reviews and recent studies were examined to evaluate the effectiveness of various stress management interventions, including mindfulness-based, re-covery, and multimodal approaches. Results: The findings indicate that workplace stress signif-icantly affects employee physical, psychological, and social well-being, leading to issues such as chronic fatigue, anxiety, and decreased job satisfaction. Effective stress management interventions, particularly those involving social workers, can mitigate these effects. Social workers provide emotional sup-port, facilitate access to resources, deliver interventions, sup-port workplace programs, promote self-efficacy, and conduct research and evaluations. Conclusion: Addressing workplace stress through com-prehensive strategies involving social workers is essential for improving employee health and organizational productivity. Social workers’ holistic approach in delivering and supporting various interventions ensures that stress is managed effectively, enhancing employee well-being and organizational success
