Abstract
Objective: To evaluate quantitative analysis of electromy-ographic activity (QEMG) of implant ball retained mandibular complete overdenture with lingualized balanced occlusion.
Material and Methods: Ten completely edentulous patients received conventional dentures with balanced lingualized occlusion. Patients go for recording QEMG with conventional denture (preload). Patients had stage one surgery for placing two implant fixtures. The two endosseous root form (3.7 diameter and 13mm length) fixtures were left submerged for a period of three months for osseointegration. The implant fixtures were uncovered, healing abutments were used and after two weeks the steps for modification of the patient existing denture were started and the metal housing was secured to the fitting surface of the mandibular denture by a chemical curing acrylic resin. The patients were left one month for adaptation of overdenture after delivery. Then, the QEMG were evaluated after 3 months (post load I) after 6 months (post load II), then after 9 and 12 months.
Results: The results and data of the (QEMG) activities of masseter and temporalis muscles was calculated and statis-tically analyzed with Greenhouse-Geisser test of repetitive relation with the time is the mean factor. QEMG evaluation showing that there is a significant increase (p!90.01) in all the properties of motor unit potential (MUP) till 6 months and then maintained in the same progress but without difference (p^!0.01) till the end of the year.
Conclusion: Balanced lingualized occlusion recommended for implant complete overdenture as enhancing stability and retention of the denture which essential for maintenance of implants and improving the muscle activities.
