Abstract
Background: Using simulation in nursing course can assist faculty to use more effective methods to facilitate learning of clinical skills and to measure skill competency or problem-solving abilities before taking students to a clinical unit. So, health care educators will need to incorporate educational technology as apart of educational process.
Aim of Study: To investigate the effect of using simulation learning in home visiting module on perception of community health nursing students.
Methods: A Randomized-control trial study was conducted among all students (33 1) at the fourth year community health nursing students in Faculty of Nursing at two universities, Mansoura (N=114) students and Fayoum (N=55) students in the first semester and (N=106) students from Mansoura, (N =56) from Fayoum in the second semester in academic year 2013-2014 who were studying community health nursing course. The study was conducted from September to May 2013.2014. Three tools were used for data collection after reviewing of relevant data as the following; first tool about students knowledge questionnaire sheet regarding to home visit module, Second tool about Students performance regard-ing home visit activities, the third tool for student perception of simulation method.
Results: Revealed that most of students were satisfied with the simulation methods. Highly statistical significance was founded between pre and post knowledge for control and experimental groups.
Conclusion: The main conclusion drawn from the present study is that simulation methods and white board (e-learning) are effective teaching methods in nursing education. It was recommended to apply simulation methods into curriculum of community health nursing course and activating the role of e-learning environments in faculties education.
