Abstract
Background: Arising concern about different degrees of anemia and its effect on physical activity in postmenopausal women have been emerged. Adequate treatment of anemia may improve physical activity in postmenopausal women.
Aim of the Study: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the correlation between different degrees of anemia and physical activity in postmenopausal women.
Material and Methods: Two hundred anemic postmeno-pausal women (60-70 years old) were randomly selected from outpatient clinics of Maghagha Hospital. Patients with end stage renal failure or neurological or orthopedic disorders-that interfere with the study-were excluded from the study, physical activity was assessed for all patients using short form (Sf-36) health survey questionnaire, and the degrees of anemia were evaluated through blood Hemoglobin (Hb) quantification (CB C).
Results: There was statistical significant association between Hb and health utility in all postmenopausal women (p=0.000 1).
Conclusion: There is correlation between different degrees of anemia and physical activity in postmenopausal women.
