Association between Forward Head Posture and Upper Limb Anthropometry in Healthy Adults, DALIA M. MOSA and NADIA A. FAYAZ
Abstract
Background: Forward head is a common postural fault seen from the sagittal view. It has been associated with several mechanical changes and dysfunction in the upper limbs.
Aim of Work: To investigate the association between forward head posture and upper limb anthropometry.
Material and Methods: Forty-one asymptomatic subjects had their forward head position assessed by measuring the craniovertebral angle using the photogrammetric method. Total upper limb, upper arm, forearm, and hand lengths as well as mid arm circumference were measured using a medical tape.
Results: There were no significant association between the severity of forward head posture and upper limb anthro-pometry including total upper limb, upper arm, forearm and hand length in addition to mid arm circumference (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Upper limb anthropometry cannot predict the severity of forward head posture.
