Clinical Audit on Management of Chronic Kidney Disease at Assiut University Children Hospital, AHMED R. AHMED, AHLAM B. ALI and FATMA EL-ZAHRAA A. FAHMY
Abstract
Introduction: CKD is a major public health problem worldwide, little is known about the epidemiology of CKD in the pediatric population. CKD is defined as a structural or functional abnormalities of the kidney (abnormal urine analysis, imaging studies, or histology), with or without decreased glomerular filtration rate.
Aim: To evaluate management of chronic kidney disease of children in Nephrology Unit in Assiut University Children Hospital using K-DOQI guideline as standard guideline.
Patients and Methods: Data of all patients, who had attended Nephrology Unit and diagnosed to have CKD, were collected and analyzed and audited against standard KIDOQ guidelines during one year duration through the period from 1st of January 2015 to 31th December 2015.
Results: In this study, CKD was more common in males (64.2%) in comparison with females (35.8%) and complete history was taken in 66% of cases in our study, while incom-plete history was taken in 34% of cases, regarding the clinical examination we noticed complete examination was done in 58.5% of cases, while incomplete examination was in 41.5% of cases.
Conclusion: Indication and the incidence of complications didn't differ significantly from the international incidence reported in ASGE guidelines.
