Abstract
Background: Michelin tire baby syndrome is a rare con-genital skin finding characterized by symmetrical folds in the arms, legs of the neonate and may involve neck which will be resolved with time.
Objective: To report, for the first time, a Saudi infant with both Michelin tire baby syndrome and transient neonatal cholestasis.
Case Report: A Saudi boy aged 52 days was diagnosed as a case of jaundice and Michelin tire baby syndrome that were manifested since his birth. His liver function tests were impaired. The baby has been managed by ursodeoxycholic acid and fat soluble vitamins. His liver function tests were normalized and the jaundice disappeared after a month.
Conclusions: Up to the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of an association between Michelin tire baby syndrome and transient neonatal cholestasis. Further studies are needed to explore whether this association is merely incidental or describes a new syndrome that comprises both circumferential skin folds and jaundice that are manifested in a neonate since birth.
