Medical Records Based on Blockchain Technology

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to design a secure and efficient stor-age scheme for managing personal medical data using block-chain and cloud storage technologies, addressing the challenges of data security, privacy, and interoperability in healthcare. Methodology: The proposed scheme integrates blockchain technology with cloud storage to ensure secure storage and sharing of medical data. Medical institutions generate and hash medical records, which are encrypted and stored off-chain in cloud storage. Index information and transaction records are re-corded on the blockchain. Patients retain full control over their data, granting and revoking access permissions as needed. The blockchain’s decentralized architecture and cryptographic tech-niques ensure data integrity, security, and privacy. Results: The implementation of the medical blockchain demonstrates significant improvements in data security and privacy. The encryption and hashing mechanisms protect data from unauthorized access and tampering. Patients can securely manage their medical records, consolidating data from differ-ent medical institutions and controlling access permissions. The system’s interoperability facilitates seamless data sharing among medical institutions, third-party agencies, and patients, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare deliv-ery. Conclusion: The medical blockchain offers a robust solu-tion to the challenges of medical data management. By com-bining blockchain and cloud storage technologies, the proposed scheme ensures secure, private, and interoperable management of medical data. Patients benefit from enhanced control over their medical information, while healthcare providers and third-party agencies experience improved data accessibility and security. This approach promises to revolutionize medical data management, leading to better patient care and operational ef-ficiency in the healthcare industry. As the technology matures, it holds the potential to create a more connected and responsive healthcare ecosystem
