Abstract
Mosquito bites are mostly a nuisance, in many countries, among of them Egypt. Mosquitoes transmit disease to more than 700,000,000 people annually and will be responsible for the death of one every 17 people currently alive. Malaria results from infection with a protozoan carried by mosquitoes and according to the World Health Organization reports, causes as many as 3000,000 deaths annually.
The seven compound isolated from the indigeaous herb Psoralea plicata (Del.) were evaluated against Culex pipiens pipiens (L).
The total extracts were highly effective, inducing higher mortality and reducing the fecundity. The promising activity of Plicatin-B, Flavonoid mixture and chromene compound showed the strongest insecticides activity for mosquito control.
Aim of the Work: This study efficacy of seven compounds isolated from the air dried aerial parts of Psoralea plicata (Del.) herb against mosquitoes mortality and reducing the fecundity.
